Understanding this recall
What happened
Piazza Produce (Cibus Fresh) is recalling 7.75 oz Garden Salad sold under the Cibus Fresh, Sprig & Sprout and Jack & Olive brands because of possible Cyclospora contamination.
Why it matters
Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that can contaminate fresh produce. It causes cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness whose main symptom is watery diarrhea, often with cramping, bloating, nausea and fatigue. Symptoms typically start about a week after exposure and can last weeks without treatment. Washing produce does not reliably remove it.
Who should pay attention
